Shalonda Collins, a graduate of the Anthropology BA program, has been interning at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, working closely with other students, museum professionals, and archaeologists on the St. Catherine's Island Project. Her work has included some basic analysis and inventory of artifacts recovered from previous field seasons, but in a few weeks she will be off to Georgia for a month of field work at the site, where excavation has focused on Spanish period mission archaeology. Shalonda mentions particularly the mentoring by Janet Rafferty and Evan Peacock and is presently applying to PhD programs in biological anthropology and bioarchaeology.
